Change a Life
I haven't been up to blogging recently--I received creepy anonymous comments that just put me off the whole thing--and now I have so many things I could post about I am totally overwhelmed.
And I don't want to get into the cycle of the blog running me rather than me running the blog. So if it doesn't feel fun, I ain't gonna do it.
But I just found out about http://www.kiva.org/ - and it is AMAZING. You microlend to deserving entrepreneurs--you help fund them now and they pay you back so that you can refund another. Minimum loan amount is $25.
I just sent $50 to help build a $450 loan for Patience Erhunmwense, a 36-year-old mother of two and a client of Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) . She sells ice cream in Benin City, Nigeria and wants to buy a freezer and develop more ice cream flavours.

I'm glad you're back to posting, and I really respect kiva.
Btw, I received creepy anonymous (and local! even creepier!) comments about six months after I started blogging. I blocked the ip address (with my haloscan comments). And now if people piss me off I just block the ip address. I wonder if blogger has that capability.
Hi Femminista,
Thanks for your interest in Kiva. It's really a wonderful organization that has changed already so many lives... If you are interested in meeting more Kiva enthusiast, feel free to drop by at http://www.kivafriends.org.
Nice making your acquaintance,

Definately good to see you back. I was starting to wonder if everything was all right.
I second the blocking of the negative commenters. It's your blog and you shouldn't have to deal with their creepiness.
Sorry about your creepy comments. I love the idea that you actually get to put a face to the people that get your money. My husband and I usually give family members goats and pigs for Christmas (through World Vision).
That is a neat organization. I hate to hear you getting creepy anonym comments. I am scared to say that I haven't had that - so I won't!!
Stay around, will you?
bad juju comments must be no fun! but keep in mind all the great things you're blog has been doing--opening up people's eyes to new ideas and ways of preserving themselves and their spaces in healthy positive ways. go elizabeth! hope to see you back and blogging regularly soon.
Ah, it's nice to see your (possible) return to blogging... And yea, creepy commenters are sucky.
I completely missed this post somehow. Damn Bloglines.
Sorry to hear you had/have to deal with this; I hope you're well :)
Still miss you!
