Help, please: writing and photography

I would like to encourage a retired writer/photographer that I know to start a blog. I think he would be very, very good at it, but I do not think he is very familiar with the blogosphere.

I would like to show him some good photography and writing blogs to get him motivated. Can anyone recommend any such blogs that would make his juices flow? I want high, high quality--nothing as frivolous as this blog. (Showing him this would kill the idea completely.)

Also, which blog platform works best for Macs? My potential blogger is a Mac user. I use a PC and quite like Blogger--but would Wordpress, for example, be a better option for a Mac user?

I am not a photographer but my oldest has an eye that fascinates me AND we both love the albums on this blog: http://picperfics.blogspot.com/

The author/photographer is wonderful. Her albums are linked on the right side of the blog...several links there and we love her work. She is a very kind person and might be willing to give a pointer or two. It would at least be worth a look...there are probably other links to photography links there...I only look at her work.

Right off the top of my head, I would recommend
Outside In and Whoopsy daisy! for photos and Parlez Moi on writing.

I have used Movable Type and TypePad with my Mac and both work fine. These days I am using Sandvox from Karelia.com -- you can see what it is like by viewing my blog.

and

are two of my favorites! they're really simple and are updated weekly (a softer world) or daily (3191).

Thanks, all, for your suggesitons--please keep them coming!

Ceri, any guesses as to who it is that I'd like to see blogging? (BTW, are there any links to your upcoming show that I could feature?)

Ha ha, Thanks Elizabeth! I'll surely try to start a blog as soon as I have TIME (ie after April 21st when my gallery show is). I'll be putting up a website with my current work in early May and I'll keep you updated. Hope you're doing well!
